Expecting the Worst, Getting the Best

Every mom of two little kids knows that when you can't see them and can't hear them, you are about to find two little kids getting into a lot of trouble. Well, not this morning. Clark and Rivers had been out of sight for a little while but I could hear them playing together, so no problem. Then there was complete silence for a couple of minutes and I thought, oh great, what kind of disaster am I going to find them making. I went to face the inevitable mess and found two little angels sitting together in a chair reading books. What a blessing.

In fact, many times I find them playing really well together. Seeing them enjoy interacting together makes me so happy and proud. I hope they always get along as well as they do now. Clark has taken on the responsibilty of big brother whole-heartedly. He shows Rivers the ropes, he stands up for him, he kisses him goodnight and occasionally roughs him up a little.

[Yes, I know Clark needs a haircut. We are waiting for Auntie Kara to do it when she visits in October.]

Long Time No Post

Just the boys being cute. They were both standing on an empty turned-over tub thinking they were pretty special (and of course they are). I just thought they looked so cute standing together, Rivers in front of Clark, really able to see their growth difference.

We knew we would never get a picture with them all looking at the camera and smiling but we had to try. What a good looking group of kids.

Finally, Rivers gets his birthday cake. It is six days after his actual birthday but we had to postpone his celebration because he wasn't feeling too well on his birthday.

The day after Rivers' 1st birthday he was admitted to the hospital for dehydration. He stayed two nights and has bounced back to his normal, happy self.

I don't think I will ever catch up on this blog like I had planned. Here are some pics from Easter and if I ever get time I will post all the pics I haven't posted. To really catch up I would need to go all the way back to Thanksgiving!

This Easter was very special for our family, it was Rivers' first Easter and I was confirmed as a Catholic. We celebrated Easter by spending time as a family. We had a wonderful day outside enjoying the nice weather as the boys went on an egg hunt and played. David grilled us a delicious dinner of chicken and pork steaks, not a traditional Easter dinner but it was perfect for us.
